  10. Yes.

Wages are based on supply and demand. If you are in a field where someone is willing to do "the same" (in reality, a photo hack rarely does work at the same level of quality, but the person hiring doesn't know or care) job for free or little pay, it's hard to command a premium price.

Jobs are hard to find for same reason, lots of people doing it. Look how many people ask the question, "Can I be a photographer?" "What classes do I need to become a photographer?", etc. And lots of times, the people who show their work with the "Can I be a photographer?" are showing work that is far below the level of what is required of a professional.

If you are great at marketing, PR and promotions, you can eventually get your name to be well known, and then you can command a premium price, but that is a small percentage of photographers.

A good approach is to do photography as a side job, then you can say no to low paying jobs, because you have an income.
